Abstract

Agricultural sector research has been looking for sustainable production alternatives due to the environmental damage caused by conventionally techniques. The use of agro-industrial residues in the soil, with the inoculation of beneficial microorganisms, more than potential, has been shown to be a viable alternative for the maintenance or increase plant productivity. The aim of this work was to evaluate the compatibility of Nitrospirillium amazonense and vinasse as alternatives to chemical fertilization. In the first experiment, the capacity of the bacteria to grow in the presence of vinasse was carried out. Vinasse and culture medium concentrations were evaluated (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% vinasse). In a second experiment, the initial development of sugarcane seedlings treated with vinasse, bacteria and mineral fertilizer was compared in a greenhouse for 2 months. The results obtained showed that the bacterium N. amazonense was able to survive and develop only in culture media with less than 20% of vinasse. The replacement of conventional chemical fertilization using vinasse, with inoculation of N. amazonense, did not alter the development of sugarcane after transplanting the seedlings in pots, during the period of analysis of the experiment.
