Abstract

Cambuci pepper (Chapéu de Bispo), is a species of Brazilian origin, widespread in various regions of the country. Consumed mainly in natura and present in typical national cuisine, it is also used in industry and in the decoration of environments. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the germination and emergence of Cambuci pepper seedlings in three commercial substrates (Click Mudas®, Forth Condicionador Floreiras® e Top Garden Floreiras®). The substrates were placed in expanded polystyrene trays, followed by the sowing of pepper seeds, which were then kept in a greenhouse until the evaluations. The following were evaluated: germination percentage (PG), germination speed index (IVG), shoot length (CPA), root length (CR), fresh shoot mass (MFPA), fresh root mass (MFR), shoot dry mass (MSPA) and root dry mass (MSR). The results indicate that the most suitable substrate for germination and emergence of Cambuci pepper seedlings is Top Garden Floreiras®.
